- 249th ENGINEER BN reunion will be held in Sep ’13 for veterans, active duty and family members. We are the original 249th veterans from WWII. We have a book, “The War Years” put together by the original battalion commander. We have membership available. For members, we have a quilt with people’s names and years they served. The book is from the time the 249th was started at Camp Bowie, TX, to the end of WWII in Karlsruhe, Germany. The 249th returned to the States in 1994. For history purposes we would like to know what your job was, where you were located and when. This is our history. It needs to be recorded. We also have a newsletter that goes with the membership.
